No. 316.
Addressed to the Secretary of State for the
Colonies No. 316 repeated to British Embassy Tokyo No. 91
British Embassy Shanghai No. 194 Consul General Canton No. 37
It is reliably reported that Japanese have looted workshops
at Canton railway terminus and removed certain rolling stock.
Bondholders will no doubt protest
so far as the Chinese
section is concerned but this Government is implicated because
following rolling stock belonging to the British section is
said to have been seized:- First class coaches 33 and 4 wagons
numbered 67 69 94 and 107. Consul General Canton will
of
I hope protest immediately if report is substantiated there.
The rolling stock in question is of course property/this
Government.
